Job Description

As a Security Specialist at the GS-0080-12/13, you will be part of the Security and Safety Division, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The incumbent serves as a Security Specialist, under the direction of a supervisor and will be responsible for providing immediate support and technical expertise to the EEOC Headquarters and 53 Field Office locations.

**Qualifications:**
For the GS-12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes applying knowledge of security principles, policies, and Department of Homeland Security/Interagency Security Committee (DHS/ISC) standards to support physical security and emergency preparedness programs. Experience includes assisting with planning, training, and response activities, applying administrative management principles to analyze issues and recommend solutions, and supporting implementation of federal security programs and guidance. Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. For the GS-13: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes applying expert knowledge of physical security principles and Department of Homeland Security/Interagency Security Committee (DHS/ISC) standards to assess vulnerabilities and implement mitigation strategies. Develops and implemented policies and programs for physical security, emergency preparedness, and Continuity of Operations (COOP). Coordinates with Facility Security Committees and ensured completion of required training, while analyzing security issues and providing recommendations and guidance to leadership. Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
