Job Description
This position is located in the Fitness, Sports & Aquatics Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL. The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the supervision, coordination, and economical operation of two pools (indoor and outdoor) as well as to ensure that all aquatics programs and activities operate efficiently and safely according to regulations and standard operating procedures.

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge gained through the successful completion of a baccalaureate program with a major study appropriate to the field of aquatics recreation OR at least three years of experience that shows a demonstrated knowledge of the techniques, principles, and methods utilized in the operation of aquatics operation. Incumbent must have had at least three years of experience at the Lead Lifeguard or Lifeguard Captain Level. Incumbent must have possession of one or more of the following certifications. American Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard training or equivalent, YMCA Aquatic Facility Manager or National Pool/Spa Operator Certificate, American Red Cross Instructor-Trainer in lifeguarding or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor-Trainer or equivalent. Incumbent must possess American Red Cross instructor certification to teach CPR (infant, child, and adult), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to speak effectively about the program and to motivate interested groups of active-duty personnel and their dependents in related aquatics programs. Must possess and maintain American Red Cross instructor certification to teach CPR (infant, child, and adult), AED and first aid. If not currently held, incumbent must obtain National Pool/Spa operator certification for the State of Florida within one year from date of hire*. Incumbent is responsible for multiple facilities in different locations and must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
