Job Description

Are you a visionary architect eager to share your expertise? If so, we are seeking an Architect possessing strong leadership, project management, planning, and directing skills to join our team. The architect plays a pivotal role in leading design and construction project management services, overseeing budget and schedule management, conducting construction inspections, and providing construction cost estimating services.

**Qualifications:**
In order to meet the Basic Qualification Requirements of an Architect, GS-0808 position, you must have: A. a degree with a major in architecture; OR B. a degree in a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems; OR C. a combination of education and experience-college-level education, training, and/or technical experience as demonstrated by at least one of the following: (1) Related Curriculum: A degree in architectural engineering with course work covering function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanical-electrical, and other engineering problems related to the design and construction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended to house human activities OR; (2) Experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. In the absence of college courses, 5 years of such experience is required. In addition to the Basic Qualifications above, you qualify at the GS-13 level if you meet the following qualification requirements: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning architectural projects for multi-phase new construction, renovation, and improvement projects; conducting site investigations to determine feasibility, topography, and site configuration; participating in review of bids, contractors' proposals, contract specifications and designs, as well as in contract negotiations; using computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs and project tracking programs; resolving problems or conflicts impeding progress, and assuring that contractors and organizational staffs work effectively toward timely completion of projects.
