About the Position: Serve as a Supervisory Public Safety Dispatcher for the Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Proficiency Required: A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Specialized Experience for applicants who are NOT current or former Federal employees: which includes: (1) Operating automation, emergency dispatching, and communications equipment; (2) interviewing callers to determine problems and nature of calls to respond with appropriate emergency personnel/equipment; (3) Communicating effectively with police, fire, or medical personnel during emergencies; 4) Using a central electronic database to access crime date such as the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Specialized Experience for current or former Federal employees serving on a career or career conditional appointment: which includes (1) Coordinating the dispatch of emergency response personnel/equipment such as police, fire, and medical units to incidents reported via 911 or other emergency lines; (2) Utilizing specialized dispatching software and/or communication systems to manage emergency responses; AND (3) Identifying the nature of calls in order to prioritize emergencies and non-emergencies; 4) Using the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) to verify law enforcement sensitive information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision Making Emergency Communication Leadership Manages and Organizes Information Time in Grade Requirement: Internal/Previous Federal Employees: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Non-Federal Employees: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) positions within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
