Safety & Occupational Health Specialist (Environment of Care Specialist)

**Qualifications:**
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Graduate Education: Major study - safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of the qualifying specialized experience are: Experience that demonstrates knowledge of Joint Commission standards, safety and occupational health management standards, regulations, and precedent decisions governing all areas of the environment of care in medical centers. Experience developing, implementing and managing environment of care programs and plans in the areas of Emergency Operations, Utilities Management, Medical Equipment Management, Safety Management, Fire Safety Management, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management. Experience providing training, presentations, and briefings for areas included in the environment of care. Experience in inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established environment of care policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications required to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
